THE Challenge
Managing supplier complexity and non-core assembly work.
A leading global industrial manufacturer struggled with consistent on-time delivery of kits and sub-assemblies to its OEM customers’ production lines. The manufacturer’s kitting program required coordinating 30–50 suppliers, each with varying lead times and sourcing constraints. In addition, the manufacturer needed to manage a large number of components across multiple assemblies, all requiring strict adherence to defined specifications. These assembly and kitting activities were not part of the company’s core competencies but were critical to program execution. Internal teams were not structured to handle the level of detail, coordination, and quality oversight required, creating inefficiencies and adding operational strain.
OUR APPROACH
Executing kitting and sub-assembly with embedded quality collaboration.
Kem Krest partnered with the manufacturer to take ownership of kitting and sub-assembly activities. The team builds assemblies and kits to the manufacturer’s exact specifications, with a strong emphasis on precision and repeatability. Execution is closely aligned with the company’s engineering and quality teams to ensure all steps are clearly defined and consistently followed. By performing this work off-site, Kem Krest provides a dedicated environment focused on assembly execution, helping ensure that all requirements are met while supporting the manufacturer’s broader program needs.
THE RESULT
Improved execution and support for downstream programs.
By shifting kitting and sub-assembly to Kem Krest, the manufacturer was able to better support its program requirements without overextending internal resources. Assembly work is completed to defined specifications with consistent quality, supported by close collaboration between teams. This approach helps ensure that completed kits and assemblies are ready for downstream use and distribution. The result is a more structured and reliable way to manage kitting and sub-assembly work, allowing the company to focus on its core operations while maintaining confidence in execution.
